ABOUT US

Established in 1976, Proserpine & District Respite Services Inc. is a charitable, not‑for‑profit incorporated organisation serving the frail aged, elderly seniors, people with disability and their carers across the Whitsunday region. We deliver Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) services for those over 65 (and Indigenous participants over 55) and National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) support for people with disability, funded by the Department of Health amd Ageing and the National Disability Insurance Agency.

Whitsunday Leisure Activity Centre (WLAC) operates Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays), offering group social support and community access during flexible hours. We also provide in‑home support seven days a week to NDIS participants, plus a lawn maintenance program. Our team arranges transport to and from the Centre—and if needed, from participants’ homes—to ensure everyone can join in safely and comfortably.

On‑site, participants enjoy a nutritious meal tailored to individual needs (diabetic, lactose‑free, etc.), followed by thoughtfully organised activities designed to stimulate both mind and motor skills. Our purpose‑built facility at 17 Stanbury Street, Proserpine—originally opened on 26 February 1983 and extended in 2000—caters to a growing community of engaged, connected members.

Serving Proserpine, Airlie Beach, Cannonvale and the neighbouring townships of Midge Point and Bloomsbury, we’re committed to excellence in care. Nestled on Queensland’s tropical coast, our region blends the warm traditions of rural Proserpine with the vibrant energy of Airlie Beach—making Whitsunday Leisure Activity Centre a true home away from home.
